DISTRACTIONS by Brendan Hong

Today’s the day.

i had finally done it,
bought a notepad and pencils,
i’m ready to start sketching,
for ten dollars.

bought a notepad and pencils,
they’re already sharpened.
for ten dollars,
i should have fed Mango.

i should have fed Mango.
the hunger strikes.
they’re already sharpened.
claws are out.

the hunger strikes.
i’m distracted now.
claws are out,

i’m ordering pizza.
i’m ordering pizza.
chorizo’s so fancy.
i’m distracted now,
too much variety.

chorizo’s so fancy,
perfecto or thin?
too much variety.
it used to be easy.

perfecto or thin,
i look in the mirror.
it used to be easy
ignoring these things.

i look in the mirror.
bags under my eyes.
it’s time to stop
ignoring these things.

bags under my eyes,
its time to stop.
it’s time to sleep.
it’s time to sleep.

it’s time to sleep.
i’m going to sleep.
i was ready to start sketching.
i hadn’t done it

Every Single Day.
